CONDUCTIVIVTY

Stuff you need

  1. Battery, size C
  2. Piece of aluminum foil, about 4 inches by 12 inches
  3. Lightbulb from a flashlight

    How to do

  1. Fold aluminum foil several times to make a strip 12 inches long and about 1/2 inch wide
  2. Set the battery on one end of the strip
  3. Hold the metal base of the lightbulb to the other end of the battery
  4. Touch the metal base of the lightbulb with the aluminim foil strip

Result

  1. The bulb will light up

Why

  1. The aluminum foil strip makes a path for the energy in the battery to follow
  2. The energy follows the path and lights up the bulb

Extra stuff to do

  1. Try different sizes of batteries
  2. Try stacking two batteries together
  3. Try touching the strip to different places
