MAGNETISE A SCREW DRIVER

Stuff you need

  1. Screwdriver
  2. Large dry-cell battery
  3. Insulated wire

How to do

  1. Wrap the wire several times around the screwdriver.
  2. Touch the bare ends of the wire to the battery terminals briefly (expect some sparks).
  3. Take wire off battery then test the screwdriver for magnetism.

Result

  1. Screws, nail and other metal material will stick to the screwdriver.

Why

  1. The screwdriver is magnetized by inserting it into a coil then by charging it with a voltage.

Extra stuff to do

  1. Try to pick up all types of material, check what is able to be picked up.
  2. Time how long the screwdriver remains magnetized
